Sarthak is a unique initiative of Aanandam Society for Sustainable Development (www.aanandam.org). The objective of Sarthak is to build the mentoring relationship among ‘‘The Parth and The Saarthi’ enabling exchange of knowledge and guidance from a wiser adult to a vulnerable student. The essence of this initiative lies in the fact that it caters to the students from highly exposed sections of the society in the villages, distant away from the lime light of the cities. This is the first of it’s kind remotely operated mentorship program in the world.
Sarthak, initially conceptualized in 2013 and run for 4 years in local modes, was formally started in December 2017 when 8 students from a small town in Bihar, Jamalpur, were selected for the first cohort of Sarthak. The 8 students selected are from highly exposed section of the society but have the potential to be the super stars of tomorrow. A group of 7 mentors, from varied backgrounds and experience, were selected to mentor these 8 students.
